If you are planning on visiting Taiwan, specifically Taipei, you will undoubtedly want to get your drink on and do some partying during the warm nights. Well, if you are the type of person who likes to party regularly you will find this post (and the next few) to be quite informative. So, i am going to review the first club on my list in Taiwan so you will know what to expect when you visit.

The picture is a bit old but Luxy has not changed much over the past few years. Well, anyways, Luxy is one of the most famous clubs in Taipei which means a lot of foreigners head over there on the weekends and even on the weekdays. Wednesday night is currently girls night but that does not mean that there will be more girls than on any other night – in fact there is usually more dudes but it really depends on when you go sometimes its good sometimes its bad. The crowd is made up of a mixture of locals and foreigners. In general the crowd is usually not bad but in most cases, like most clubs in major cities, there are always more guys than girls. The quality of the girls however is not bad at all and you can find some pretty cute girls here. However, if you plan on buying drinks you will end up spending a fortune.

The drinks in Luxy are not that bad and you will have to pay 200nt which is about 7$ for a drink. It’s not too expensive but your money will go down quickly if you continue to buy drinks. Most foreigners prefer not to buy all their drinks inside the club so they go outside around the corner to buy drinks from a 711 for much cheaper. Before people would always hang around the 711 and there will always be a small crowd around there but since the residents of the area starting complaining about the noise police come at around 1 am and tell everyone to leave the area – so you have to find some spot on the side of the road to drink and keep your mouth shut. You can drink in public in Taiwan – there are no rules against it.

Luxy also hosts a lot of different events and various popular DJS come to play as well. The club has two large rooms; one plays mainstream dance music and the other plays trance or house music.

Picking up girls here is just about as easy as anywhere else in Taiwan. However, Taiwanese guys usually get butthurt and jealous if you talk to there girls and they will usually call all their friends to try and beat you up. Of course, Taiwanese guys are little weaklings so even a crowd of them probably wouldn’t be able to hurt you and you could beat them all up. But remember that Taiwanese guys prefer to call all their buddies instead of fighting you 1 on 1 like a man. Also, they get drunk really easily so if you give them a drink or two you will have them puking all over the bathroom for the rest of their night and you can go hit on their girlfriends.

So in general, if you want to have a fairly decent night out on the town in Taipei check out Luxy – the vibe and atmosphere is nice (bit loud, but most clubs are)  The drinks are a bit expensive so if you want to get drunk on a tight budget head to the 711 outside. The cover fee is currently 300nt before 11, 600 afterwards. Of course if there is an event happening you will have to pay more. You also get two free drinks with with the cover fee so it’s not all that bad. I personally went to this club too many times it does not excite me anymore. The competition here to pick up girls is not very high but there are a lot of foreigners so you probably won’t get so much attention from girls and you won’t stand out very much unless you have good game (the majority of foreigners in Taiwan have 0 game).
